Are you familiar with balsa wood? Balsa wood is spongy wood but it is born with amazing stability which make it could be used to make series of products. The balsa wood could be used to make boats and planes, I mean the real boats and the aborigines in South America and the people during World War II has proven the durability of balsa products. In some cases, we need to strengthen the balsa wood to insure its stability, are you interested in the method?

First, you need to prepare enough tools, such as craft knife, balsa wood, tongs, waxed paper, wood-hardening solution and so on. Since you are planning to strengthen the balsa products, you could cut the wood into the desired pieces. The balsa wood is still easy to be cut before being strengthened. Then you could fill a glass cup with the wood hardener. Make sure the liquid is deep enough to submerge the balsa wood.

Then you could soak each piece of balsa wood into the hardener. If the container is large enough, you could soak the balsa wood at once or you need to soak them by turn. Bubbles would rise from the wood while soaking and when the wood stop releasing bubbles, it means that the wood has been soaked completely.

Next, you should place the woods on the waxed paper to let them dry. According to the weather and the qualifications of the hardener, the drying time could be different. When you have finished, the balsa wood would be able to endure more pressure. In order to test its ability, you could choose another piece of balsa wood which is endowed with the same thickness. Use the two pieces of balsa woods to bear the same weight. Keep loading and see which one would break first. Then you could find the strength of the wood.

Finally, while you need to assemble the balsa products. The method you use is just like you assemble the normal balsa projects. In order to enhance the wood quality and expand its service life, you could paint the balsa projects. Thus, both the water and the normal pets would not damage the balsa wood.
